Vivere London
Vivere takes its name from the Italian for to live, which tells you most of what the London label is after. The clothes are cut clean and worn easily, with proper tailoring sitting underneath even the softest pieces. We carry the ecru group almost in full, plus the black pleat styles and one very good jacket.
It filled a gap we had been circling for a while. Plenty of what we stock does print, or occasion, or Italian polish. Vivere does the quiet weekday end of a wardrobe without making it feel like a compromise, and that turns out to be the hardest thing to buy well.
The ecru pieces are designed to work as a group. Nellie is a high-waisted palazzo trouser in a linen blend, Arlette a pintuck blouse, Orla a sheer top and Enid a sheer skirt, and they layer together or split out across whatever you already own. In black, the Pilar pleat dress and the Carlotta pleat sleeve top. Hazel is the jacket, in biscuit.
The label is London-based and design-led, and launched through John Lewis before reaching independent boutiques like ours. Minimal, but never severe. The money has gone into the detailing and the cut rather than anything you can see from across a room.
The ecru group hangs together on one rail at Westbourne Arcade, Bournemouth, which is the best way to see how the pieces talk to each other.
